Most of the process systems require flow uniformity before the process. This can be obtained by using flow devices such as turning/ladder vanes, mixers or perforated plates. However, these devices introduce additional pressure drop which is not desired. System has to be optimized for pressure drop and flow uniformity. In addition, recirculation zones must be avoided to prevent particle accumulation or vortex induced vibrations. Following pictures show flow distribution before and after the modifications in an inlet duct and flow optimization for a baghouse system.
