Welding Simulation
Welding is still the most popular metal joining method. It provides fast and permanent bond between the parts but it also generates a weak point in terms of structural integrity which may be because of residual stresses or carbon depletion between dissimilar materials. It is important to model and predict these effects to minimize the failure. Another aspect is to predict the distortion of the parts especially if the parts are thin walled. Following study was performed in order to predict the displacement of parts after welding.
